The weekend of our mentorship programme is almost upon us! I sent out information quite a while ago for this free workshop and complimentary show tickets, but I want to give you one more chance to sign up.
This Saturday, May 26, a group of SFU theatre students and alumni will head out to the Surrey Children's Festival for a mentorship partnering with CORPUS Dance Projects from Quebec. The schedule looks as such:
10:30 - Check in at Arts Centre main desk, pick up name-tags
11:00 - Watch CORPUS performance of Les Moutons ("The Sheep")
12:45-2:00 - Les Moutons Technique Workshop with David Danzon
3:30-4:15 - Watch CORPUS performance of A Flock of Flyers
Attached is a document sent to me by Marnie Perrin, artistic director of the Children's festival. In it you can find a link to a map and all the information you'll need for the day, but please ignore the previous schedule, which had the workshop scheduled for the evening. Registrants will need to find their own way there: public transit is straightforward, or you may choose to carpool with a friend. I will be taking the Skytrain at about 9:15 at Commercial Stn, and you're welcome to join me!
It's a great chance to work with out-of-province artists, and David Danzon, artistic director of CORPUS, is actually a former clowning student of Dean Gilmour, who also taught SFU faculty and clown teacher, Steven Hill. We're getting a fantastic deal, and the workshop and performances are completely free of charge for registrants. If you were on the fence before, or you now realize you're available, please e-mail me at (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your name, year of study, e-mail address, and phone number. There are still a handful of spots available. The workshop is open to any students and alumni interested in theatre and dance. All levels of experience and ability are welcome.
If you want to check out more information about CORPUS, here is their website (www.corpus.ca). They have videos of both shows and plenty of info online. Hope to see you there; I think it's gonna be a great time!

PS. For all participants and attendees of Hive: the New Bees, we've scheduled the day specifically to work around your (and my!) schedule. The 4:15pm end time means we have plenty of time to make it back to Chapel Arts for our call time. Hope to see you there!
Nicholas will be keeping you up to date on current events, auditions, shows, and more through this page. We'll be keeping you posted.
